I couldn’t let go of this moment. A group of people close to me, sitting together, some of them laughing, sharing something on their phones.
At first, it felt simple. Even tender. A small form of connection in a space where people often drift away from each other.
But the painting didn’t stay there.
I chose a yellow-green light that slowly took over everything. It flattens the bodies, pulls them into the same surface, almost erasing the distance between them, and at the same time, making them harder to reach.
Some are together. Others remain apart.
The more I worked on it, the less it felt like a shared moment. The light turns it into something contained, slightly off. As if the connection exists, but only inside that glow.
