At different moments in my life, I collected images of figures embracing, or simply being close to each other. I was drawn to that closeness, its quiet intensity, but in the process, something else asked to be added.
In Bound Together, I introduced chains and streaks of fluorescent orange, like exaggerated traces of blood and wounds. In Bound Together 2, the figures are marked with violet tattoos, and the bedsheets are filled with hearts, a sun, and stars.
Both paintings are attempts to see relationships as they appear, but in a playful, almost childish way. I left the seriousness for later.
