Love scenes and plants have become an obsession of mine. I am drawn to the lushness of both, the way bodies and leaves curve, open, reach toward one another.
There is an abundance in them that feels almost excessive. Spectacular, yes, but fragile. It never lasts. That awareness is always present when I paint.
This work began as an experiment on an upcycled canvas. I allowed myself to move freely, without planning the gestures too carefully. The colours followed intuition rather than control.
That freedom matters to me. It feels close to the reason I paint at all, a way of staying connected to instinct, to pleasure, to the simple happiness of being alive.
