The desire for tenderness led me to this painting. I was thinking about closeness in its simplest form, the kind that doesn’t need to prove itself.
The image is simple: a woman resting gently over her lover, his hand holding her face as they kiss.
But the painting is less about the gesture and more about the temperature of the moment.
The colours do not describe light; they describe feeling.
Warmth. Breath.
Its small scale makes distance impossible. You cannot see it from afar, you have to lean in.
I wanted it to feel like something kept close.
